Meditation for martial artists

Martial arts and meditation go hand in hand. After all, awareness and mindfulness are pillars of both practices, and each can improve the other. Historically, meditation has always been a part of martial arts practice as well.

If you’ve never explored the ways in which meditation can improve your martial arts practice, now is the time to give it a try. Meditating for just 10 to 20 minutes each day can have a big impact on your practice and your mental state.

Having trouble clearing your mind? Try listening to gentle music in a dark room. The fewer distractions, the better. Focus on your breathing, and gently push away any distracting thoughts. It may take a bit of practice, but it will get easier with time.
